My story, Part IV. The Blue Bees’ Approach™: the beginning

One of my last roles in Johnson Controls was Business Transformation Leader. The project was to design and deploy an Application Lifecycle Management system in the entire engineering division (1000+ engineer in five locations). Although the project was stopped during the development phase, the business transformation experience stimulated me to put the basis of The Blue Bees’ Approach™.

When an engineer is asked to play new organizational roles, he starts to search structured approaches to deal with not structured tasks. Sometimes the results are impressive.

The Blue Bees’ Approach™ was my way to connect the technical design of the system with the role based training program and the internal communication strategy.

The easy part was the definition of the communication channels and the training approach. Then I isolated the changes that the new system introduced, I classified them according to a list of criteria and connected those criteria to the types of communication and trainings. So easy, isn’t it?

Somewhere in the middle of the project JCI sold the Automotive Electronics division to Visteon Corporation. The status quo was questioned and the organization – rebuilt. In such periods you can see new grimaces on the people faces. Some of them you like, some others – not. It was time for my next challenge.
